Jaya Shri Krishna! there are no hard and fast rules, but when living in Bhaktivedanta Swami's temples, we would hear from Srimad Bhagavatam in the morning ( around 6:30 am) and we would hear from the Gita in the evening, Prabhupada would call this a transcendental sandwich. Dealing with the duties of this material world is sometimes like a battle, if you read the Gita after a days activities, you may have some relevant realizations. Hare Krishna !

Dharma is ones sacred duty, the fundamental aspect of Hinduism. Arjuna, being part of the Kshatriya caste, has the sacred duty of being a warrior and a leader. Krishna teaches him to uphold his dharma, his duty, and to not get sidetracked.

Karma is a result of actions taken, either good karma or bad karma depending on the action taken. Arjuna taking part in war would result in good karma if he does not kill through ego or for personal gain. If he participates in war with detachment, and because it is his duty, he will be rewarded.

karmaphalasanga - those who detach themselves from the fruits of their actions will be rewarded

thats awesome that the authentic geeta is available online. every verse and translation.. thats a really good job! keep it up! i just hope that none of the verses are misinterpreted. in my opinion, the geeta goes far and is a very deep text. it is meant to guide people in their lives not to unite or divide any community. and i stress that this is my personal opinion. i wish a simplified version of the upanishads and the vedas would be available too. but so far, its a really good job... keep the text as authentic as possible because in the era of today, it is such websites that will be used to pass on the knowledge.
ps: what is the logic in rating my own comment????? i have an opinion which is probably not the best in the world.. at the end of the day, are we all not here to learn, everyday of our lives?

ram mohan, Karma is your day today activities.. but when you do your day to day activities in a rightful way, you are doing dharma. Now, How do you know if you are doing in a rightful way. Simple, Listen to the directions of your soul. "He" resides in you and "He" gives directions as to what is right and what is wrong. The Inner Self is the Ultimate Himself

I know this singer who lives in Bangalore, a native of Udupi. I have attended a few of his concerts. He sung all the Gita verses beautiful with passion. I wish to see all the Gita verses on this web site in Sanskrit also along with the English translation. This web site is very informative. The Vedic culture will return to Bharata soon.
