Albert Einstein: When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect about how God created this universe everything else seems so superfluous.

Mahatma Gandhi: When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to Bhagavad-gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meanings from it every day.

Henry David Thoreau: In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita, in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial.

Dr. Albert Schweitzer: The Bhagavad-Gita has a profound influence on the spirit of mankind by its devotion to God which is manifested by actions.

Sri Aurobindo: The Bhagavad-Gita is a true scripture of the human race a living creation rather than a book, with a new message for every age and a new meaning for every civilization.

Carl Jung: The idea that man is like unto an inverted tree seems to have been current in by gone ages. The link with Vedic conceptions is provided by Plato in his Timaeus in which it states..." behold we are not an earthly but a heavenly plant." This correlation can be discerned by what Krishna expresses in chapter 15 of Bhagavad-Gita.

Prime Minister Nehru: The Bhagavad-Gita deals essentially with the spiritual foundation of human existence. It is a call of action to meet the obligations and duties of life; yet keeping in view the spiritual nature and grander purpose of the universe.

Herman Hesse: The marvel of the Bhagavad-Gita is its truly beautiful revelation of life's wisdom which enables philosophy to blossom into religion.

Ralph Waldo Emerson: I owed a magnificent day to the Bhagavad-gita. It was the first of books; it was as if an empire spoke to us, nothing small or unworthy, but large, serene, consistent, the voice of an old intelligence which in another age and climate had pondered and thus disposed of the same questions which exercise us.

Rudolph Steiner: In order to approach a creation as sublime as the Bhagavad-Gita with full understanding it is necessary to attune our soul to it.

Adi Shankara: From a clear knowledge of the Bhagavad-Gita all the goals of human existence become fulfilled. Bhagavad-Gita is the manifest quintessence of all the teachings of the Vedic scriptures.

Aldous Huxley: The Bhagavad-Gita is the most systematic statement of spiritual evolution of endowing value to mankind. It is one of the most clear and comprehensive summaries of perennial philosophy ever revealed; hence its enduring value is subject not only to India but to all of humanity.

Ramanuja: The Bhagavad-Gita was spoken by Lord Krishna to reveal the science of devotion to God which is the essence of all spiritual knowledge. The Supreme Lord Krishna's primary purpose for descending and incarnating is relieve the world of any demoniac and negative, undesirable influences that are opposed to spiritual development, yet simultaneously it is His incomparable intention to be perpetually within reach of all humanity.

Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati: The Bhagavad-Gita is not seperate from the Vaishnava philosophy and the Srimad Bhagavatam fully reveals the true import of this doctrine which is transmigation of the soul. On perusal of the first chapter of Bhagavad-Gita one may think that they are advised to engage in warfare. When the second chapter has been read it can be clearly understood that knowledge and the soul is the ultimate goal to be attained. On studying the third chapter it is apparent that acts of righteousness are also of high priority. If we continue and patiently take the time to complete the Bhagavad-Gita and try to ascertain the truth of its closing chapter we can see that the ultimate conclusion is to relinquish all the conceptualized ideas of religion which we possess and fully surrender directly unto the Supreme Lord.

Madhvacarya: The Mahabharata has all the essential ingredients necessary to evolve and protect humanity and that within it the Bhagavad-Gita is the epitome of the Mahabharata just as ghee is the essence of milk and pollen is the essence of flowers.

The results of one's action of previous birth is known as daivam (fate) in indian tradition. it is said that we can overcome the effects of previous birth by the karma (action) of this birth. so if we wish we can conquer fate, otherwise it will conquer us. it all depends on our own action(karma). dedicate your karma to Krishan and engage in devotional service ( whether u study or work it does'nt matter..dedicate it to Krishna)you will definitely overcome your fate with His love and blessings.

Scholars say that each person has a soul with him and when he dies his soul goes out of the body. My first question is "Does each man has a single soul or a single soul can hold many other bodies" and my other question is "If a soul has no death whether new souls are generated thru these souls and if new souls were emerging 'is their an end to this souls' " The word "Souls" was haunting me from many days. Please answer my question. Thank U

Muslims believe do not believe in Rebirth, nor do they believe that there is complete liberation from forms. Bhagavadh Gita says God is all and in all.

So it is very opposing to Muslim views in this context, but the wisdom is the same, and that wisdom of living good, and how to live good, why to live good is there in it.

A good literature is never confined to any religion. Even if you are a rational thinker and don't believe in any religion, through Gita one can learn what is the right attitude he/she should have towards life and the problems he/she faces.

Although I belong to a religious Hindu family but for me Krishna is either a victorious king who is being a portrait of God or just a hero of a great epic. But Gita is much more deeper and it can be understood only by living the life and facing the situation for which its verses stand for. Interestingly, interpretation of verse can vary person to person.

The Bhagavad Gita is an analysis of the Human personality and what one can do to achieve understanding of the enlivening factor in all of us, regardless of one's faith, Muslin, Hindu, or Christian. Therefore this book is beneficial to everybody.

According to christain faith one cannot be saved by GOOD WORKS. Because one can never be sure how many good works are required to be saved. The only requirement is to believe in Jesus Christ.
How does Hinduism stress on good deeds for salvation

According to Bhagavad Gita, work whether good or bad is a bondage to the material world. Hinduism emphasizes in solely surrendering your self unto the supreme lord, working only and only for him and not measuring it or in other words performing all your actions with the consciousness of Krishna. Hinduism does not emphasizes on good deeds for salvation, but to develope the consciousness to love God. Only a God loving soul can attain him. That is why there has been emphasis only on Devotional Service in Bhagavad Gita, which does not have any measure.

I want to know something. Everybody tells me that we are sent to Earth for a purpose. What if we don't discover it I am not scared of dying but I am scared of dying without realizing my purpose. Lord Krishna says the we must perform our 'karma' without thinking about the results. Believe my I have tried it many times...but..it just doesn't work. How do I know whether I am going in the right direction

Hi Priyamvada,

You are already fullfilling that purpose for which you are here on earth, your mind is not allowing you to realise this fact. Your mind needs purification from thoughts, once that is done you will be able to see your real self.

1. Assuming that God existed before Big bang and evolution of human beings why did God have to go through these physical processes before creating human beings when indeed he had the power to create human beings right then and there
2. Why did God appear to some human beings and not the others For example Krishna appeared to one generation of people at a particular place; Rama appeared to the people living in Ayodhya; Sai Baba appeared in front of the people of Shiridi. Why couldn't these prophets (or avatars) appear to every single person in the world
3. What is the importance of prayer Why should we praise the lord

Is it not fabulous that there was the big bang with such splendor, colors, energy, light, vibration. What are we humans. If I were God, I would have that as my priority, too. It seemed more fun to create. The humans seem so unimportant, except their souls that are eternal and loving. So, may all the creations that have souls that are eternal and loving. God in the body of Krishna, in the body of Christ, in the body of Buddha. Those who are in tune with their souls become God like. They become God. It's not always easy. That's our goal, to become God like, and if we are willing, we can share our experiences with others as Christ shared it with others, as well as Buddhha. Thus Christianity and Buddhism came about.

to seek god which is real all else is illusory and projected from our own minds "Do what u like just not what you want" and the real is revealed more and more,we are eternally free but seek to attach ourselves time and time again to the the temporary thus remaining in samsara until we reach beyond the desires of the mind ego stuff and seek the eternal in all things and surrender to its will there will be no end to our individual and collective suffering ,at the level of consciousness humanity is one seek now the ultimate the journey will create the peaceful warrior in you surrender and rejoice !!!!!!!!!!

Great minds have drawn inspiration and strength from the Bhagavad Gita. Spoken to His devotee and friend, Arjun, by Lord Krishna, the Gita gives an insight into our true spiritual nature, the atman or soul, and its transmigration through different bodies, according to our karma. The Gita is non-sectarian and non-dogmatic; it is meant for all humanity.

An absolute gem of a scripture!

To me rings so true. When I say I follow no religion, people think I am an atheist, they are so very wrong!
